COLUMBIA, Mo. - The No. 20 Missouri gymnastics team scored a season best in its 195.325-188.925 victory over Centenary Friday night at the Hearnes Center. Junior Julie Abaray claimed three event titles as she set or tied career-highs on all three of her events and sophomore Adrianne Perry won the all-around with a 39.325.

"We are improving each meet and getting better," said Missouri Head Coach Rob Drass. "We still have some obvious issues. We dug ourselves a hole (on beam) and we have to dig ourselves out of it. The fact of the matter is, we can hit beam, we should bit beam but we're not and I don't know why. We just have to work it out."

Starting on the Tigers' most consistent event, the squad opened the meet with a 48.975 on vault for a new season-high. On fire on vault the past few meets, Perry kept up her hot steak as the sophomore posted a 9.925 to take top honors on the event. Senior Whitney Crater tied her season-high with a 9.825 to claim second place and junior Ashley Khederian came in third with a 9.775.

Mizzou was impressive on bars for the third consecutive week, tallying a 48.950 on the event without the lineup's anchor, sophomore Alicia Hatcher. Abaray scored a 9.850 to set a career-high for the second meet in a row and nab the event title. Freshman Becky Scholle finished in second with a 9.825 and Khederian tied her personal best with a 9.800 for third place.

In the third rotation, the Tigers once again struggled on the balance beam with a team score of 48.275. The event was highlighted by a career-high tying 9.850 for Abaray as she took the beam title while senior Amanda Pezzullo scored a 9.825 to take second. Taking third was freshman Danielle Guider, who also set a personal best on the event with a 9.800, which was good enough for third.

Missouri ended with a bang as the squad scored a 49.125 on floor, the highest total on any event this season. Abaray picked up her third event title of the night with a personal best 9.875 on the event. Perry took second with a 9.850, Guider scored tied her career-high with a 9.825 for third and Pezzullo claimed fourth as she recorded a 9.800.

"Floor is one of our strongest events and bars is getting up there too, we're right at the 49 mark," said Drass. "We're really confident and great on three events and on beam, you can see the writing on the wall. We just have to hit once and then we'll be a 49 team on the event."

The Tigers conclude their three week home stand on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 23-24 as the squad hosts the 27th annual The Callaway Bank Cat at 7 p.m. The team competition between Missouri, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and William and Mary will take place on Friday while individual event finals will be held on Saturday.
