COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou freshman golfer Alina Rogers placed fourth at the Investors Group Canadian Women's Amateur Championship after posting a three-round score of 219 (+3) at Loyalist Country Club in Ontario, Canada, this week. Rogers posted scores of 74, 72 and 73 in each round, ranking her tied for fourth among the 100-person field. Competition wrapped up on Thursday (July 19) with her two-over 73.
Rogers began her day shooting even par on the first five holes, sending her to the sixth hole, which she double-bogeyed the day before. She improved her score from the previous day but still bogeyed the hole - the 352-yard par four had been playing at a field average of close to five strokes all week, so her bogey on that hole was very respectable. Rogers then turned in an even par five on the seventh and the eighth before bogeying the ninth. She finished the front nine with a 2-over 37.
On the back nine, Rogers opened with a birdie on the 333-yard, par four 10th hole. It was her first birdie of the tournament on that hole. She then put together back-to-back-to-back pars on 11-13 but bogeyed 14 to fall back to four-over. From there, Rogers posted pars on the next three holes before posting a birdie on the 18th hole for the third straight round.
Also competing for the Mizzou women's golf team this week is sophomore Taylor Gohn, who currently ranks 10th at the IWGA State Amateur Championship at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind. Through the first two rounds, Gohn is sitting at +4 with a two-round score of 148 (75, 73). In round two on Thursday, she shot a one-over 73. She posted a birdie on hole seven but bogeyed the third and ninth holes while posting pars on the remaining 15 holes.
