Mizzou Women's Golf Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer announced on Wednesday that Michelle Morgan from Muncie Central High School in Muncie, Ind. has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Tigers next season. Morgan is a multi-sports star who took second at last fall's Indiana State High School Championships and was the only girl to make both the All-State Team and the Academic All-State Team in 2005-06.
The record holder for most varsity letters earned at Muncie Central with 16, Morgan was an all-conference soccer player and is second in career goals in Muncie Central history. She was an all-conference basketball star and qualified for the Indiana High School State Championship Finals in diving. As a member of the softball team, she has earned all-conference honors and led the team in triples as a junior.
"Michelle is probably the most decorated all-around high school athlete that we have signed to date," Priesmeyer said. "She has participated in several sports throughout her high school career and has shown tremendous leadership, athleticism, and competitiveness on each of her teams. She has also demonstrated that being a great student is very important to her with a high school class rank of 11 out of 280, and a GPA of 3.97. I believe once Michelle puts all of her focus into the game of golf, she will become an outstanding student-athlete here at Mizzou over her next four years."
Morgan received the State Mental Attitude Award for Indiana High School Golf, which is voted on by coaches across Indiana, and she won the North Central Conference Championships by eight strokes last season for Muncie Central. She was the medalist or co-medalist in all but three matches in 2005-06. Morgan was the Team MVP all four years of her high school career.
