Butler Earns Top-5 Finish in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nev. - Redshirt Freshman Michelle Butler led the Tigers at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown this week, closing the tournament 2-under par to take fourth place overall. Butler put up four birdies in the final round to overcome a few bogeys on the back nine. As a team, Missouri took ninth, scoring 18-over par. San Diego State took first overall (+3) while UNLV and UCF tied for second (+5).

Sophomore Katherine Hepler finished among the top-20 in the tournament, as she closed out two rounds just 2-over par. Freshman Jess Meek finished 12-over par in the tournament to tie for 75th overall.

Senior Kate Gallagher competed in the tournament as an individual, finishing in a tie for 51st overall with a score 8-over par.

Senior Taylor Gohn and Junior Alina Rogers battled illness throughout the tournament. Each competed in one round of play. Gohn scored just two over par in the final round while Rogers put up a score 4-over par in the first round of play.

The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown was held at the 6,230-yard Par 72 course at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. The tournament field consisted of 17 teams, including Denver, Fresno State, Furman, Idaho, Kansas State, Long Beach State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UC Irvine, UCF and Wisconsin.

This tournament marks the end of the fall season for Mizzou Women's Golf. The Tigers will return to Columbia until Feb. 16 when the team will compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
