Women's Golf off to Strong Start at Las Vegas Intercollegiate

Las Vegas, Nev. - Mizzou Women's Golf is tied for seventh overall at the 2013 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown after finishing the day 8-over par as a team. Michelle Butler (Dunedin, Fla.) leads the Tigers as she scored 1-under par on the day. She is currently tied for second overall in the tournament, trailing Texas Tech's Elin Arvidsson by just one shot.

UNLV leads the tournament at even par, while Minnesota and San Diego State are tied for second with score 2-over par.

Katherine Hepler also had a strong showing on the course as she shot just 1-over par on the day to tie for 21st overall. Both Alina Rogers and freshman Jess Meek closed the first round 4-over par to tie for 52nd in the tournament.

Competing as an individual, Kate Gallagher shot 5-over par in the first round to tie for 67th overall.

The tournament is being played at the 6,230-yard Par 72 course at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. The tournament field consists of 17 teams, including Denver, Fresno State, Furman, Idaho, Kansas State, Long Beach State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Reno, New Mexico, San Diego State, Texas Tech, UC Irvine, UCF and Wisconsin.

The second round will begin tomorrow, Oct. 28, at 9:30 a.m. CT. Missouri's first tee time is set for 8:00 a.m. Fans can follow live scoring at www.golfstat.com.
