Women's Golf Moves up in Third Round at Web.com

Jacksonville, Fla. - Mizzou Women's Golf moved up six places through the third round to finish in sixth overall at the Web.com Intercollegiate on Tuesday, April 8. The Tigers shot a third round score just 2-over par, the second lowest team score of the round. Both junior Alina Rogers and redshirt freshman Michelle Butler placed among the top-25 overall as Rogers shot 1-over par in the third round to tie for 21st overall while Butler took 24th.

"We were really proud of our players' mindset today," said head coach Stephanie Priesmeyer. "We started with a delay and began play in the rain. Our team embraced the challenge and really had a lot of fun out there. We had some really nice golf shots this tournament during all three rounds, but today we converted more of our birdie opportunities. It was great to post the second lowest round of the day and move up six spots."

Rogers shot 3-over par through three rounds of play, tallying three birdies in the third round. Butler finished with a third-round score 2-over par to sit 4-over par to close the tournament.

Senior Taylor Gohn posted a strong performance in the third round, finishing at even par. Gohn tallied two birdies to negate two bogeys in the third round, she closed the tournament 10-over par. Junior Laura Kraft also finished the tournament 10-over par to tie with Gohn for 46th in the tournament. Kraft also had a strong third-round performance finishing the tournament 1-under par.

Freshman Jess Meek tied for 55th overall as she finished the tournament 13-over par. Meek shot 5-over par in the third round of play tallying a birdie on the sixth hole.

 

 

The tournament field was composed of 19 total teams including Central Florida, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Florida International, Florida State, Illinois, Jacksonville, James Madison, Louisville, Maryland, McNeese State, Michigan, Minnesota, North Florida, Ohio State, Sam Houston State and Toledo. The Tigers will play at the SEC Championships in Birmingham, Ala. beginning on April 18.
