Mizzou Women's Golf off to Strong Start at MountainView

Tucson, Ariz. -Junior Laura Kraft led Mizzou Women's Golf to a fifth place start at the Mountain View Collegiate on Friday (March 28). Kraft closed the first two rounds of play just 1-over par to tie for fifth overall herself. She is joined in the top 15 by two other Tiger golfers. Mizzou sits just 16-over par through two rounds. Nebraska leads the tournament with a score 3-over par, followed by Kent State (+8) and Gonzaga (+10).

Kraft had a strong performance on the first day, finishing round one at even par and round two just 1-over. Michelle Butler and Alina Rogers also had positive days on the course as the teammates finished two rounds just 3-over par to tie for 14th overall.

Senior Taylor Gohn sits among the top 50 overall with a second round tally 9-over par, while senior Kate Gallagher closed the day 11-over par. Freshman Jess Meek is just one stroke behind as she finished two rounds 12-over par.

The second round will begin Saturday (March 29) with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The tournament is being played at MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz., a Par 72, 6,227 yard course.

A total of 15 teams are participating in the tournament, including Arkansas State, BYU, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Kansas State, Kent State, Minnesota, Mizzou, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Redlands Community College, Tulsa and Wyoming.
