Strong Third Round Propels Tigers at LSU Tiger Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. -Mizzou Women's Golf closed out play at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on March 22, as the threat of impending weather forced the teams to play 36 holes Saturday. Redshirt Freshman Michelle Butler led the Tigers to a 12th place finish as she shot a score 2-over par in the third round of play. The Tigers shot 67-over par as a team finishing with a strong third round score just 16-over par. Arkansas took the tournament title for the second straight year, while UCF and Kentucky round out the top three teams.

Butler finished in a tie for 25th overall as she finished the tournament 12-over par. She tallied five birdies on the day, four coming in the third round, which helped her earn her lowest score of the tournament (-2). After leading the Tigers on day one, Taylor Gohn finished the tournament 15-over par, just behind Butler. Gohn finished in 37th overall, also recording her best performance in the third round. Gohn recorded three birdies in the round to score just 3-over par.

Freshman Jess Meek joined Gohn and Butler among the top 50 overall as she earned a 48th place finish. Meek shot 18-over par through three rounds, also scoring just 3-over par in the third round of play.

Junior Alina Rogers shot 22-over par to finish in 60th overall, while senior Kate Gallagher finished 81st overall. Competing as an individual, Laura Kraft finished the tournament 27-over par with a third round tally just 5-over par. Kraft finished 70th overall in the tournament.

The LSU Tiger Golf Classic was held at The University Club, a 6,215-yard, par 72 course. The tournament field consisted of 15 teams including several top-ranked competitors including No. 5 Arkansas, No. 17 UCF and No. 18. Baylor, Denver, Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe, Notre Dame, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Tulane, UNCW and UTSA were also among teams at the tournament.
