The UCF Challenge continues tomorrow with the second round of play.

Sorrento, Fla. - Mizzou Women's Golf finished the first round of play at the UCF Challenge in 15th place, with a team score of 300. Junior Taylor Gohn leads the Tigers as she shot even par (72) in the round to tie for 23rd overall. South Carolina leads the tournament after finishing with a round one score of 284, and North Carolina is tied with UCF and Augusta State in second place (287).
Gohn had a strong first round at RedTail Golf Club, negating her two bogeys with a birdie on both the seventh and 13th holes. Tied for 49th overall, Alina Rogers finished the day just three strokes behind Gohn (+3). After starting out the day with a bogey on the second hole, Rogers powered through, putting up three birdies on the front nine. She added another birdie on the back nine for a total of four on the day.
Freshman Katherine Hepler recorded two consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes and finished with a first round score of 76 (+4). She is currently tied for 59th overall. Laura Kraft sits just one stroke behind Hepler as she shot a 77 on the day. The number puts her in a tie for 77th place in the tournament.
Also competing for the Tigers is Michelle Butler, who recorded a 79 on the day. Butler finished with three birdies in the round, and is tied in 86th place with junior Ariana Savich who is competing as an individual in the tournament.
Missouri will head out tomorrow for the second round of play, with the first Tiger (Ariana Savich) teeing off at 9:15 a.m. There are a total of 18 teams competing in the UCF Challenge including Augusta State, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Oregon State, UCF, South Florida, Texas State, Tulane, UCF and Virginia. There are also a total of nine individual competitors in the tournament.
