Mizzou Wins Home Opener, 53-30
The University of Missouri women's basketball team held the UT Martin Skyhawks to 18.6 percent shooting as the Tigers notched a 53-30 victory in the squad's home opener Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena. The win improved Mizzou's record to 4-4 on the season, while the Skyhawks fell to 4-4.

The Tigers will welcome Tennessee-Martin on Dec. 3 in a television contest at 7 p.m. This will be the third meeting between the two teams, and the Tigers lead the all-time series 2-0. The Tigers last saw the Skyhawks at Mizzou's 2010-11 home opener. Missouri came out with a 5-30 victory over UT Martin in the contest.

Coming up, Mizzou will welcome Missouri State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 6 and Dec. 8. The Dec. 8 contest will mark the second half of a double-header with the Mizzou Men's Basketball team. The Tigers will also host Southern Illinois on Dec. 16 and Morgan State on Dec. 18 after finals week.

The Skyhawks are 3-5 this season, with wins over Arkansas State, Evansville and Central Arkansas. UT Martin is led by Jasmine Newsome and Heather Butler, who are both averaging over 20 points per game, and Newsome has swiped 26 steals this season. The duo was named to the preseason All-OVC team as well. A junior this season, Butler was selected as preseason OVC Player of the year and was also named to the Preseason Wade Watch list for the State Farm Wade Trophy. As a team, the Skyhawks were chosen to win the OVC West this year, for the first time in program history.

-The Tigers have scored at least 20 points off of turnovers in four games this season.
-The Tigers lead the conference with 59 three-point field goals made this season.
-Missouri is 3-2 when the Tigers score first, and Missouri has scored first in five of its seven games.
- Freshman Lianna Doty leads the SEC with 37 assists the season and 5.3 assists per game, Doty also ranks 10th on the league's steals list this season with 16 so far.
-Doty's 5.3 assists per game also lead all freshman in the SEC.
- Sophomore Morgan Eye has made the fourth- most three pointers in the league this season, and she has the best three-point shooting percentage. Her 21 made threes are the third-most in the SEC as well.
-Eye is also ranked No. 75 in the nation for her .410 three-point shooting percentage and also comes in at No. 56 for her 2.67 three- pointers per game.
-Freshman Lianna Doty ranks among the top 50 players in the nation with her 5.3 assists per game. (She is 44th)
-Sydney Crafton holds the eighth-best free throw percentage in the Southeastern Conference as she is shooting .750 from the charity stripe.
-Morgan Eye has attempted 10 three-pointers in two games this season.
-The Tiger bench is proving to be a great asset as the bench has only been outscored once this season.
-Missouri has shot over 40 percent from the field in five of seven games this season and grabbed over 30 rebounds in every contest.
-The Tigers have earned a better three-point field goal percentage than opponents in five of seven games this season.
-Mizzou has recorded more assists than five opponents in games this season.
-Shooting .846 (11-13) from the field, Sydney Crafton recorded the SEC game-high for field goal percentage against SEMO.
-Morgan Eye has hit at least one three-pointer in every game this season and leads the Tigers with 21 made this season.
-Mizzou attempted 37 three-pointers against SEMO and made 13, which are team game highs for the league.
