Off the Court With BreAnna Brock

Freshman forward from San Antonio, Texas.

--

Why did you choose to attend Missouri?
"The school has my degree program and just my love of basketball. I want to be a doctor I can get my degree and there's a hospital on campus."

What kind of doctor do you want to be?
"I want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon. I love kids and I met a pediatric neurosurgeon through my dad's job and she just piqued my interest."

Has basketball at Mizzou been what you expected so far?
"Yes. It's hard but after a while you get used to it but everyone expects it to be hard."

What have you learned since you joined to Mizzou basketball program?
"That attitude is everything and it's all mental. Everything is like a mental game with yourself."

Have any individual goals for the year?
"Get my attitude better, as far as how I look at things. I feel like I get selfish about what I'm going through more than what the team is going through. Basically just the mental game with myself."

What about team goals?
"Just have a good season."

You come from an athletic family. Who else excels in sports?
"All three of my brothers, actually. My oldest brother was a high jump champion in high school. He went to Kansas City then the University of Texas. My middle brother played at Texas Southern. My younger brother went to Texas Southern and graduated. After he graduated he went on to play for the Houston Texans for half a season before he got cut."

So you're the youngest?
"Yes, I'm the only girl."

Have you adapted to Missouri so far? I'm sure it's a little colder than San Antonio.
"It's colder but our winters in San Antonio are like the weather outside now so it doesn't really bother me. But I haven't been around snow."

What's the best perk about being a student-athlete?
"Everybody knowing that you're an athlete, knowing that you're a part of the women's basketball team. That's huge. In high school everyone knew me because I played but it's totally different here."

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
"Being a doctor, probably still in school trying to be a doctor."

If you had a free day to do anything you wanted, what would you do?
"Spend time with my family and friends and sleep."

Who would you most like to meet?
"Audrey Hepburn. She was very sophisticated."

What's your favorite movie?
"Love and Basketball and The Great Gatsby."
