Tuesday With the Tigers
Nov. 3, 2009
The Missouri women's basketball team will keep a weekly blog during the season. This week senior Amanda Hanneman fills us in on the preseason, school and Halloween. Hello everyone! Amanda here. I wanted to talk about how my week was with school, how the closed scrimmage went this Saturday against Emporia State and even about the team's Halloween weekend! This week was a crazy one for me, as I was really busy with school work, dealing with tests and papers on top of papers. We are at the point of the semester where midterms are here and it seems my teachers like to make all my tests either on the same day or one right after the other. I had a tests Thursday and Friday, two papers due Sunday and finally another test this past Monday. So basically all week I had no social life besides basketball and studying my life away. But now I feel like a whole new woman - finally some free time! During this Halloween weekend, besides eating tons of candy and cookies with my roommates Bailey Gee and Bekah Mills, we had a closed scrimmage against Emporia State. Getting up early is never a joy but I think the team was excited to finally play against somebody besides ourselves. Emporia State is a very good team. They like to run and are a very good shooting team, so we had good competition. Everyone played pretty well and got a chance to play. I'm definitely not used to this many people and being able to substitute like Coach Stein did. That just means we have a lot of depth and a lot of talent. Overall, we played pretty well as a team and ran the floor, which we love to do. This week in practice we will watch the film of the game, work on things we need to improve and begin preparing ourselves for this Sunday's exhibition game against Central Missouri at 1:00 p.m. (be there!).
On a social note, this weekend was Halloween. As a team we decided to dress up, just hang out and have a good time with each other. It was a blast to see everyone dressed up and having fun together and was a great bonding experience. I love Halloween...why can't we dress up and eat tons of candy every day!? Until next time, Go Tigers! -Amanda (#3) |
