Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Women's Basketball program and Head Coach Robin Pingeton announced the addition of Davionna Holmes to the Mizzou Women's Basketball program on Tuesday (August 20). Holmes comes to Missouri from Louisville, where she was a member of the Cardinals Volleyball and Women's Basketball teams.

A 6-foot-3 native of East St. Louis, Ill., Holmes played middle blocker for the Cardinals Volleyball squad. She appeared in eight matches, tallying nine kills in her freshman season. Shortly after the volleyball season, Holmes joined the Cardinals women's basketball program, taking a redshirt year.

"We feel very fortunate to have Davionna join our basketball family, head coach Robin Pingeton said. "She has great size and athleticism and with a lot of hard work I believe she will develop into a great player for us."

Holmes attended East St. Louis High School, where she played both volleyball and basketball. She averaged 14.4 points and 4.4 rebounds per game for East St. Louis, and was among conference leaders in three-point shooting. Holmes earned First Team All-Southwestern Conference honors with the East St. Louis high school volleyball team as was also selected for USA Volleyball's Girls Youth Continental team.

Holmes will come to Mizzou as a redshirt sophomore and will sit out a season before joining her teammates on the floor. She plans to study English during her time with the Tigers as well.
