Incoming Tiger Freshman Earns Honor

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Incoming University of Missouri freshman women's basketball player Bekah Mills was named the Lynette Woodard Female High School Athlete of the Year by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission on June 27.
One of three finalists for the award, Mills was honored at the 10th annual Greater Wichita Area Sports Banquet, where Kansas State football coach Ron Prince was the keynote speaker and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Bench was a special guest and speaker. Mills was selected by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters from 48 nominees based on high school athletic careers, academics, character, work ethic, dedication, commitment and effort.
Mills, a 5'10" guard from Towanda, Kan., averaged 21.2 ppg., 8.2 rpg., and 4.9 apg. as a senior for Circle High School in 2007, where she earned Kansas-Sports.com Class 4A first team honors. A standout in the classroom as well, Mills was valedictorian of her class.
She is a member Mizzou's incoming class that was named the 25th-best in the nation and the second in the Big 12 Conference by Blue Star Basketball.
