May 29, 2008
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Proving they excel in the classroom as well as on the basketball court, University of Missouri women's basketball signees Kendra Frazier (Altamont, Kan.) and Bailey Gee (Andover, Kan.) were named valedictorians of their respective high schools. Frazier, who attended Labette County High School, graduated on May 17 while Andover Central High School product Bailey Gee graduated on May 18.
Both Frazier and Gee earned All-State Big Six honors, which recognizes the top six players in Kansas, and were named to the Kansas Class 4A first team after their senior seasons.
Frazier, the Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, led Labette County High School to a 21-3 record and averaged a state-best 25.3 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. She set a school single-game record with 44 points in a victory over eventual state quarterfinalist Fort Scott, grabbing 20 rebounds and recording a double-double-14 points and 10 rebounds-in the fourth quarter alone.
Gee was named an EA SPORTS All-American and the 2008 Miss Kansas Basketball by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association. She averaged 21.7 ppg., 8.5 rpg., 2.2 spg., 2.0 apg. and shot 61.0 percent from the field as a senior for Andover Central High School in 2008, where she helped the Jaguars to a perfect 26-0 record and the Kansas Class 4A title.
