COLUMBIA, Mo-- Missouri Women's Basketball would like to congratulate former associate head coach, Randy Norton. Norton has accepted the position of women's basketball head coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

"This is a great opportunity for Randy to pursue a life-long dream and we are very excited for him", said Robin Pingeton, Head Women's Basketball Coach. "He has been a big part of my staff and our basketball family for the last ten years and we will miss him. UAB is very fortunate to have him and I have no doubt that he will be very successful".

Norton spent the past 10 years as an assistant on Mizzou head coach Robin Pingeton's staff, helping rebuild both the programs at Illinois State and at Mizzou. Norton was part of a staff that led Illinois State to three Missouri Valley Regular Season Championships, two MVC Tournament titles and five post season appearances. This past season he helped the Tigers to a 17-win season and an appearance in the WNIT.
