Tiger Signee Named Gatorade Kansas Player of the Year

March 14, 2008

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Incoming University of Missouri freshman women's basketball player Kendra Frazier was recently named the 2007-08 Gatorade Kansas Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The center from Altamont, Kan., is only the third Mizzou signee to earn a Gatorade State Player of the Year award, joining Amy Fordham (Nebraska, 1989-90) and Kelly St. Clair (Kansas, 1985-86).

Frazier led Labette County High School to a 21-3 record and averaged a state-best 24.9 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. She set a school single-game record with 44 points in a victory over eventual state quarterfinalist Fort Scott, grabbing 20 rebounds and recording a double-double-14 points and 10 rebounds-in the fourth quarter alone. As a junior she was named all-state second team by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, the Topeka Capital Journal and the Wichita Eagle.

In addition to her prowess on the court, Frazier ranks first in her graduating class with a 4.15 grade-point-average.

Gatorade State Players of the Year are selected not only for their outstanding athletic excellence, but for their academic achievement and exceptional character.

The selection process is administered by RISE Magazine, the nation's leading sports and lifestyle magazine for teens.
