Lianna Doty Named to SEC Community Service Team

Columbia, Mo. - Sophomore Lianna Doty has been recognized by the Southeastern Conference today, Feb. 26, as a member of the 2014 SEC Women's Basketball Community Service Team. Doty joins the 13 other SEC women's basketball student-athletes on the team.

Doty spends countless hours volunteering in the Columbia, Mo., community. She spends time at local elementary schools reading to classes and also volunteers with the Boys and Girls Club. Doty has helped run clinics with Special Olympics, and she has also been a part of the Mizzou Moves initiative, a push to bring physical fitness and health awareness to local grade schools. Doty has spent time with the children at Coyote Hill in Columbia, and also donates her time to other organizations on campus. She is a member of Athletes in Action and participates in Mizzou's Women for Women initiative and FCA.

The SEC Community Service Team recognizes the accomplishments of student-athletes beyond the field of competition. This marks the 16th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women's basketball as well as for men's basketball. All league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003. The SEC began this concept with a football Community Service Team in 1994.

Joining Doty on the team is Nikki Hegstetter (Alabama), Joey Bailey (Arkansas), Tyrese Tanner (Auburn), Jaterra Bonds (Florida), Marjorie Butler (Georgia), Kastine Evans (Kentucky), Shanece McKinney (LSU), Gracie Frizzell (Ole Miss), Candace Foster (Mississippi State), Elem Ibiam (South Carolina), Cierra Burdick (Tennessee), Jordan Jones (Texas A&M) and Jasmine Lister (Vanderbilt).

The Tigers will host Ole Miss on Thursday, Feb. 27, for Senior Night. Help Mizzou send the senior class out in style, join the team at Mizzou Arena at 7 p.m. for the last home game of the season.
