Columbia, Mo.-- The Mizzou Women's Basketball team heads to Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday to face the Jayhawks in the Border Showdown. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse.
LAST TIME OUT
Mizzou Women's Basketball dropped a close contest to Texas A&M on Tuesday (Feb. 14) at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers (10-14, 0-13) fell 56-52 to the Aggies, who improved to 18-6 overall and 9-4 in Big 12 play. Senior Christine Flores recorded her eighth career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Morgan Eye scored a career high 19 points.
The Tigers stay out for another road contest at Iowa State on Feb. 21. Mizzou is back in Columbia to host Kansas State on Feb. 25th at 12 p.m.
SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS
The Jayhawks started off the season hot winning 11 of their 12 non-conference games. But conference play has got them at 6-6 and 5th place in the Big 12 standings. They have solid wins over then-#25 Texas (2 times) and Texas Tech. KU is coming off of a 66-47 loss to Iowa State on Feb. 15. The loss is the second in a row for the Jayhawks as the team dropped a contest to Kansas State on Feb. 12 as well. The Jayhawks are working without leading scorer Carolyn Davis, who suffered a knee injury at the Kansas State contest on the 12th. The team has three other players averaging in the double figures, Aishah Sutherland (13 ppg), Angel Goodrich (12.6 ppg) and Keena mays (11.0 ppg).
SERIES HISTORY WITH KANSAS
The Tigers are 37-43 in series history against rival Kansas. Missouri first met Kansas at the 1974 Turkey Tournament in Springfield, Mo. The Tigers pulled out a 54-53 win in the contest. Last season the Tigers topped the Jayhawks 66-52 at Mizzou Arena. Earlier this season the Tigers dropped to the Jayhawks 72-63 despite Senior BreAnna Brock's career-high 26 points. The Tigers have not won at KU since Feb. 14, 2007. Missouri came home from Lawrence with a 67-57 victory over the Jayhawks.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE HISTORY
Missouri is 254-312 in Big Eight/Big 12 series history. The Tigers have winning records over several conference foes including Iowa State and Oklahoma State.
