Columbia, Mo.- Freshman point guard Kyley Simmons has been recognized by the Big 12 Conference as freshman of the week. The award is given to an athlete based on performance in games from February 6th-12th and voted on by a media panel. This is the first time Simmons has received this honor.

Simmons averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in Missouri's games against Iowa State and Oklahoma last week. She connected on 50 percent (7-of-14) of her field goals and hit 42 percent (5-of-12) from the three-point line. The guard also knocked down both of her free throw attempts. She has started all 23 of Mizzou's games this season and leads the squad with 86 assists and 26 steals.
