COLUMBIA, Mo. - Missouri Women's Basketball hosts the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday at Mizzou Arena. Admission will be $1 for all fans who `like' the team's Facebook page. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be aired on Mediacom.
LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers fell to 10-11 overall this season with Saturday's 76-49 loss to Texas Tech. The Tigers are now 0-10 in conference play. Three Tigers scored in double figures, but Sydney Crafton led Mizzou with 13 points and 5 rebounds on the game. With two blocked shots against the Lady Raiders, Christine Flores moved up to No. 2 on Missouri's single-season blocks list. She now has 70 rejections this season. With just one more block she will tie Stretch James (`03-'04) for the most blocked shots in one season.
UP NEXT
Next the Tigers head to Norman to take on the Sooners on the 11th. The Tigers also have a Valentine's Day date with Texas A&M at 7 p.m. in Mizzou Arena. The game will serve as the annual Pink Zone game, where the Tigers join forces with the Susan G. Komen Foundation to raise breast cancer awareness.
SCOUTING IOWA STATE
The Cyclones started conference play with a five-game losing streak, but have come back to win four of their last five games. The most recent victory was a 71-56 victory over Texas at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones were down by four at the half, but came back to top the Longhorns. Junior Chelsea Poppens has been named Big 12 Player of the Week twice this season, most recently for her efforts against the Longhorns. She leads Iowa State as she averages 14.9 ppg. and 11.3 rpg. She is also the only player in the Big 12 averaging a double-double.
SERIES HISTORY WITH IOWA STATE
Missouri is 46-26 in the series against Iowa State. The two teams met last year on March 5 at Mizzou Arena, and the Tigers pulled out a 49-48 victory over the Cyclones. Previously in the season Mizzou had fallen to Iowa State 71-56 at Hilton Coliseum. The two teams first met in 1977, and the Tigers topped the Cyclones 83-36.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE HISTORY
Missouri is 254-309 in Big Eight/Big 12 series history. The Tigers have winning records over several conference foes including Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
