COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Tigers will play host to Kansas this Sunday, Jan. 15, in a Border Showdown competition. Action gets underway at 11:30 a.m. CT and will be televised on FSN.
LAST TIME OUT
BreAnna Brock led the Tigers with four blocks against Kansas State, but it wasn't enough to hold back the
Wildcats. Missouri fell to Kansas State 72-46 to move to 10-4 overall, 0-3 Big 12 on the season. Senior Christine
Flores led the Tigers with 13 points and seven rebounds on the night, and both Brock and Sydney Crafton
recorded 11 points as well.
On Jan. 18, Missouri will head to Texas A&M for a contest against the Aggies at 7 p.m. before hosting Oklahoma
State on Jan. 21 at Mizzou Arena.
The Jayhawks are currently 13-2 on the season, coming off of a double-overtime victory over Iowa State. Kansas is
ranked 36 in the latest NCAA ratings percentage index report, making it one of five Big 12 schools in the top 40. The
Jayhawks are also receiving votes in both the ESPN/USA Today and the AP Coaches polls. Carolyn Davis leads the
Jayhawks in scoring as she averages 17.6 points per game. Aishah Sutherland is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game
to lead the team as well.
SERIES HISTORY WITH KANSAS
The Tigers are 37-42 in series history against rival Kansas. Missouri first met Kansas at the 1974 Turkey Tournament in Springfield, Mo. The Tigers pulled out a 54-53 win in the contest. Last season the Tigers topped the Jayhawks 66-52 at Mizzou Arena.
BIG 12 CONFERENCE HISTORY
Missouri is 254-302 in Big Eight/Big 12 series history. The Tigers have winning records over several conference foes including Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Senior Christine Flores has recorded 52 blocks so far this season, which puts her at No. 8 on Missouri's single season blocks record list. Her 56 blocks last season
put her in a tie for No. 5 with Mary Brueggestrass (84-85). Stretch James (03-04) currently holds the single season record with 71 blocked shots in a season.
