COLUMBIA, Mo. - Current University of Missouri freshman Shakara Jones had her No. 55 jersey retired by Francis Howell Central High School on Tuesday, Jan. 10 to become the first student-athlete to have her jersey retired by the school.

"I'm still in shock," said Jones. "I haven't had time to think about it yet. That was big because I was the first one to get my jersey retired. They did it right before the boys game. I stood by the free throw line and they talked about me a little bit before I took a piece of paper off the jersey."

While at Francis Howell, Jones earned EA Sports All-America second team honors, was named the 2007 Miss Show-Me Basketball and earned player of the year honors from the St. Louis American Fab 5 and St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Over her four year career, Jones amassed 2,439 points, 849 rebounds and 282 blocks, including marks of 23.8 ppg., 8.0 rpg. and 3.0 bpg. as a senior in 2006-07.

Jones has started 13 of 15 games for Mizzou in her freshman campaign and is currently third in scoring for Missouri at 12.1 ppg. and is third in rebounding with 6.7 rpg. In her collegiate debut, Jones poured in 27 points and 14 rebounds to set a freshman Tiger record for points in their Missouri debut
