COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Women's Basketball team topped Memphis, 58-48 in a heated contest on Thursday (Dec. 22). Senior Christine Flores surpassed the 1,000 point mark, becoming the 30th Tiger to score over 1,000 career points. The Tigers improved to 9-1 on the season with the victory, continuing their four game win streak, as Memphis is now 9-3.

The Tigers shot 35 percent from the floor to Memphis' 25.4 percent, and dished ten assists. Missouri has reached double digit assists in every game this season.

Sydney Crafton earned a starting spot for the Tigers for the second game in a row, and she put Mizzou on the board early with a jumper in the first minute. Missouri kept a lead over Memphis for most of the first half. The Tigers were only down by one at halftime.

Despite the deficit at halftime, Mizzou came back in the second half, recording 27 points to Memphis' 16. Other than the Tigers' loss to Northwestern, Mizzou has not been outscored in the second half.

The Tigers pulled ahead of Memphis with just over 13 minutes left in the game. A layup from Crafton brought the score to 39-38 in favor of Mizzou. Memphis threatened to come back, but Mizzou answered every basket. A jump shot from BreAnna Brock secured the Tigers' lead with about eight minutes left to play.

The Tigers showed their stripes from the free throw line tonight as MU hit 11of 20 free throws in the contest. Mizzou hit nine of those free throws in the last five minutes of play to secure the victory.

The Tigers will play the last of an eight-game home stretch on Friday, Dec. 30. Mizzou welcomes Sam Houston State to Mizzou Arena, with the game time set for 7 p.m. Keep checking MUTigers.com for more information on Mizzou Women's Basketball, or follow the team on its social media sites.
