San Antonio, Texas - The University of Missouri Women's Basketball team opened the 2011-12 regular season with a 70-50 road win over the University of Texas-San Antonio Friday night. Junior Liene Priede led the Tigers with 18 points, including a 4-for-6 night behind the arc.

San Antonio, Texas native, Christine Flores, had a productive night as well; she collected 17 points and nine boards to go along with four steals. She recorded four blocks on the night, which bring hers career total to 120 and moves her up to sixth on MU's all-time blocks list.

The Tiger defense smothered the Roadrunners, holding them to 26.7 percent shooting from the floor. Missouri forced 18 turnovers grabbed 11 steals on the game. Priede started the game with a key layup in the opening possession. After that the pace slowed as both teams struggled to make shots. The score was tied with just under four minutes left in the first half, until Mizzou went on a 9-0 scoring run that was capped by a three-point shot from Priede. Holding a 29-20 lead at the half, both the Tigers and the Roadrunners went to the locker room shooting less than 50 percent.

In the second half Priede picked up where she left off, hitting two straight three-pointers to extend the Tigers' lead to 35-23. Mizzou never looked back as the team kept control for the last 17 minutes of the game.

The Tigers continue their three-game away stretch as they head to face the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7pm.
