COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's basketball team suffered a 75-43 loss at the hands of the No. 23 Florida State Seminoles Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena. The loss dropped Mizzou's record to 8-5, while the Seminoles improved to 12-3.
The Tigers used eight early points from Flores to grab an 11-7 lead just over four minutes into the contest. Florida State responded with a 13-0 run over the next five and a half minutes, capped by a layup from Courtney Ward, to go on top 20-11 with 10:12 left in the first half.
With the Seminoles ahead 25-15, Flores hit a jumper and Crafton nailed a three-pointer with 6:10 remaining in the first frame for a 25-20 game. Florida State then reeled off seven straight points to build its biggest lead of the first half, 32-20, with 1:37 on the clock. A free throw from senior Jasmyn Otote in the final minute gave the Seminoles a 32-11 halftime advantage.
Florida State used hot second half shooting to continue to increase its lead, as the team shot 60 percent in the final 20 minutes. The Seminoles outscored the home squad 43-22 in the second.
Missouri, which shot just 26.4 percent from the field, was outscored 36-12 in the paint during the contest.
Cierra Bravard led the Seminoles with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
Mizzou travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, to face the No. 4 Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m. CST in the team's final non-conference game of the season. The Tigers then open Big 12 Conference play against the Texas Longhorns.
