  • Tanya Warren returns for her third season on the Tigers’ sidelines. In serving MU as the program’s recruiting coordinator, Warren is the driving force on the road to bringing the best college basketball student-athletes to Mizzou. On the court, she plays a significant role in the development and improvement of Missouri’s perimeter players, and also has a hand in game evaluation.

Warren’s recruiting efforts have already shown dividends in the Tigers’ incoming class this fall. The three incoming freshmen that comprise Mizzou's 2003 class all come to Columbia with outstanding resumes. Carlynn Savant participated in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival last summer as one of the top 48 rising high-school seniors; All-state honoree Blair Hardiek was ranked 33rd among point guards according to ASGR. That same publication listed EeTisha Riddle at No. 34 among centers in the country.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Warren has spent eight years as an assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level. Her coaching career began at Boys Town High School in Omaha, Neb., where she was the head coach for three seasons (1989-92), before moving to Omaha Duchesne High School, where she served as head coach for two years (1992-94). Warren’s next move was to the collegiate ranks, first as an assistant coach at Iowa State for one season (1994-95). She then became an assistant coach at Northern Iowa, guiding the Panthers to their first-ever post-season bid (2001 WNIT) since joining NCAA’s Division I.

Warren was a star player at Creighton University (1984-88), where she earned Kodak All-District and preseason All-American honors. She ranks among the school’s Top 10 in virtually every category and averaged 16 points, 6.6 assists and 2.0 steals in her four-year career as a Lady Jay.

Warren received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Creighton in 1988. Following graduation, Warren’s number was retired and she was inducted into the Creighton Hall of Fame in 1996.
