COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Missouri Wrestling program announced Wednesday that wrestler Barlow McGhee will join the Tigers in 2013. McGhee is ranked 86th in the nation by Flowrestling, and adds to a recruiting class that is already ranked No. 2 in the nation.
Missouri's newest signee hails from Rock Island, Ill. He is coached by Joel Stockwell at Rock Island High School. McGhee is an explosive wrestler, who is quick on his feet and dynamic on the mat, as described by Flowrestling. His most recent accomplishment was winning the USA Pre Season Nationals tournament for the 120-pound weight class. He also was the runner up in state in Illinois during his junior year.
McGhee will compete at 125-pounds for the Tigers, adding depth to the lowerweights next season. Head Coach Brian Smith says he'll be an 'exciting' wrestler to follow during his collegiate career.
"Barlow (McGhee) is an explosive wrestler on the mat. We found him at a national tournament and brought his entire family in for a visit. We are really excited to welcome them into our Tiger Style program, and he is very excited to be a part of this commitment we have here. He adds to an incredible recruiting class that we will be bringing in next year," says Smith.
McGhee joins five other recruits that will start their collegiate careers at Mizzou for the 2013-14 season.
