Monday's with McCormick

Nov. 19, 2012

Hey everybody! I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready to enjoy Thanksgiving. I was asked to write a little something here and there throughout the season to keep you, the fans, updated on my thoughts and the team. I believe this will be a pretty cool experience and I hope you guys enjoy it.

It is hard for me to believe that I am already in my last year of wrestling in college. The time has really gone by fast. I will be graduating in December, but it doesn't seem that long ago when I was just coming to watch my brothers compete in the Hearnes Center. I even remember watching the team host its duals on the indoor track before it became so successful. It has been an amazing experience growing up with the Missouri wrestling program. First, just getting to watch the Tigers become successful and then to get the opportunity to become part of its success has been awesome. It is a cliché, but this program is really a family. I love that I am apart of it. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to compete one more season for the Tigers.

This past weekend we wrestled at the Joe Parisi Open at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. We had five champions and 12 placers. This week we get off school for Thanksgiving Break. It is always nice to be able to just focus on wrestling. We are continuing to train hard for our duals on Saturday. As a team, I look for us to continue to get better and take the season one match at a time. Our next competition is this Saturday against SDSU and Stanford at home. I hope you get a chance to come cheer us on!
