Columbia, Mo. - Adding one more wrestler to the biggest early signing class in Missouri history, Head Coach Brian Smith announced today that Columbia, Mo., native Tony Pescaglia has committed to wrestle for the Tiger team for the season.
A senior at Hickman High School in Columbia, Mo., Pescaglia racked up 121 wins in three years of competition, including a staggering 81 falls. A three-time state qualifier for the Kewpies, Pescaglia earned a Missouri State High School Activities Association title at 119 pounds in 2005. Talented in all styles, Pescaglia is a two-time Missouri state champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. Competing at the national level, Pescaglia placed first at the 2005 Brut-Adidas Nationals, and enters his senior season ranked as the No. 15 senior wrestler in the country by USA Wrestling Magazine. Combining his skills in the classroom with his skills on the mat, Pescaglia is a three-time recipient of Academic All-America honors from the National High School Coaches Association, and was inducted into the National Honor Society in 2005.
Pescaglia is expected to wrestle at 125 pounds for the Tigers.
