COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou Wrestling program welcomes many new faces in 2013, including 4-time National Champion and Columbia, Mo. native, J'den Cox, as well as 3-time North Carolina state champion, Parker Von Egidy.
Cox attended Hickman High School in Columbia and comes to Mizzou with one of the most impressive high school resumes in the country. After losing three times in his freshman year at Hickman, J'den never lost again, finishing his career with 195 victories to just those three losses. He was a four time state champion at Hickman where he also lettered in football.
In high school, Cox made noise nationally after being crowned the 2012 Fargo Asics Nationals 220-pound Junior Freestyle Champion. In 2011, Cox was the Fargo Asics Nationals Cadet Greco Roman Champion at 215 pounds, and took third in the 215-pound freestyle bracket.
Von Egidy comes to the Tigers from Marshville, N.C., where he was a three-time state champion at Piedmont High School.
Ending his high school career with a 227-15 record, Von Egidy placed 6th as a freshman and dominated the high school ranks the following three years by winning three state titles at 152, 170 and 182 respectively. His state title during his junior season helped Piedmont win the North Carolina team title after a couple of runner-up finishes in his freshman and sophomore seasons.
In 2011, Von Egidy placed second in the freestyle bracket in the Fargo Asics Nationals 170-pound division. He was a 6-time high school All-American and 4-time All-Conference selection. He earned a total of five varsity letters in high school, four as a wrestler and one in football.
