2010-11: Wiest split time between 149 and 157 pounds during his redshirt season, winning 11 of his 19 matches while competing in four open tournaments. He went 3-2 during each of his first two opens, including a win via fall in 1:23 over McKendree's Devin Patterson at the Lindenwood Open. He opened the Kaufman/Brand Open with back-to-back decisions before being dropped to the consolation bracket. However, he bounced back with two more decisions to finish the tournament with a 4-2 record. Wiest picked a major decision win over Nico Martinez of Missouri Valley College at the MVC Open in February.
High School: Wrestling for the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars, Wiest picked up two third place and two fourth place finishes at state during his four-year high school career. Amassed 151 career wins, capped off by a 46-4 senior season where he registered 19 victories by fall. He also helped his team to runner-up finishes at state in 2007 and 2009. Also in 2007, Wiest finished seventh in the freestyle at the Fargo Wrestling Nationals. Wiest graduated as a member of the Honor Roll.
Personal: Trevor Wiest was born to Mike and Melissa Wiest on Jan. 4, 1992 in Blue Springs, Mo. His mother is a veterinarian who graduated from Mizzou. He has one brother, Brandon (22), who is a senior on the Missouri wrestling team. Wiest is undecided on his major.
