OUTLOOK: Nick Velliquette has moved from the 125 pound to 133 pound weight class and will use the season to develop his skills on the mat.

"After a few successful tournament runs last season, Nick was sidelined by injury," Head Coach Brian Smith said. He's worked hard to rebuild his strength. Nick is a very tall and lanky wrestler whose athletic ability and style really throws off and frustrates his opponents. He's a fun wrestler to watch compete and we look forward to seeing him no the mat again this season."

2006-07: Opening his season Nov. 12 at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open, Velliquette finished the day in sixth place with a 6-3 record that included six consecutive wins. Velliquette recorded one win by shutout, 8-0, over A.J. Ciccarelli of Eastern Illinois. Velliquette took fourth place at the Missouri Open, Nov. 19 in the Field House of the Hearnes Center. Competing for a third place finish against teammate and 125 pound starter John Olanowski, Velliquette lost the bout 9-3 to finish fourth.

HIGH SCHOOL: A member of the Nixa High School wrestling team led by Head Coach Jason Carter, Velliquette claimed the Missouri State Title at 119 pounds as a senior (2006) finishing second as a junior (2005). Velliquette earned All-America honors twice (2004 and 2005) while competing at the junior nationals. Named the Eagle's Wrestler of the Year in 2006, Velliquette was a four-time letterwinner and member of the football team. Strong academically, Velliquette earned a 3.75 grade-point average and was a member of the National Honor Society, lettering three years and serving as the president of the Academic Athletic Club.

PERSONAL: Nick was born April 27, 1988, to Douglas and Jennifer Velliquette. He has two younger siblings, Lauren (16) and Joseph (11). Velliquette is a communications major.
