OUTLOOK: After three years of wrestling at 133 pounds, senior Amond Prater will weigh-in at 141 pounds and challenge for a spot in Missouri's 10-man lineup.

"For three years Amond has wrestled behind strong All-American wrestlers," Head Coach Brian Smith said. "This season, Amond has moved up a weight class and will compete at 141 pounds. Amond has put in a lot of time in the practice room so the wrestle-off's for the starting position at 141 pounds will be incredibly intense."

2005-06: Opening the season at the Central Missouri State University (CMSU) Open Nov. 13, Prater landed back-to-back victories against Bryant Bennaly (Bacone College, technical fall, 3:01) and J.J. Anderson (Oklahoma, major decision, 10-1) before suffering a one point loss to Ryan Moyer (Lindenwood) and dropping to the consolation bracket. Prater closed out the day with a 5-2 record and finished fourth. Competing at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Open Dec. 2, Prater went 7-2 earning his highest tournament finish of the season, third place. Prater wrestled in four tournaments throughout the course of the 2005-06 season, placing among the top eight in three. Wrestling at the Southern Scuffle Dec. 28-29, Prater defeated Josh Pniewski of Gardner-Webb, 6-5, to take seventh. On Feb. 18, Prater made his only start of the campaign at 133 pounds, but dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 19 Kevin Artis of UNC-Greensboro.

2004-05: Prater started his season strong, pinning Albert McNeil of Dana in 2:26, the first of five wins in a third-place finish at the Central Missouri State Open (CMSU) Nov. 14. Prater picked up his only major decision of the year Dec. 5, beating Sean Brown of Dubuque 10-1. Wrestling at 133-pounds, Prater went on to place in the top five in six tournaments, including a third-place finish at the Missouri Open. Ending the season with a flourish, Prater won his final 10 matches of the season, combining nine of those victories to win championships at the Roger Denker Open Jan. 15 and the Missouri Valley Open Jan. 29.

2003-04: Making his first collegiate start for Missouri on Jan. 10, at home against Leo Martinez (Lindenwood), Prater suffered a 13-7 loss, but bounced back the following week with a 13-12 victory over Central Missouri State's Jeremy Irvine, while wrestling at 141 pounds. With two, four-match win streaks, Prater closed out his campaign with a 10-8 record including a first place finish at the Roger Denker Open Jan. 10 and second place finish at the Lindenwood Open Nov. 1.

2002-03: Prater finished third at the Missouri Valley Open on Jan. 10. With a season record of 10-8, Prater defeated Doug Hoover of Nebraska with a fall, his only fall of the season. Over the summer, Prater competed in the open division of the Show-Me State Games finishing first in the 151-159-pound weight class.

HIGH SCHOOL: A graduate of McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Ga., Prater was a state champion his senior year (2002), helping lead his team, under coach Tony Vanhorn, to a state title. A High School and Academic All-American, Prater was a two-time county and area champion and earned letters in wrestling, cross country and track. Prater graduated with honors and was involved in All-State Chorus. Prater was a finalist for the Governor's Honors Program for Fine Arts.

PERSONAL: The son of Aaron and Yvonne Prater, Amond was born Oct. 2, 1984, in Marietta, Ga. Prater has two brothers Anton (19) and Ariel (24). Prater is a general studies major with a minor in education and sang the national anthem at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in 2003 and 2004.
