Outlook: The top wrestling prospect out of the state of Texas, Tyler Lee begins his freshman run in the 149 pound weight class.
"Tyler came into preseason practices and has shown us a lot of good things," Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. "He brings a great work ethic to the practice room which is something our program really looks for in its competitors."
High School: A four year member of the Marcus wrestling team in Texas, Lee went from a state qualifier his freshman year (2005-06) to winning back-to-back state titles his junior (2007-08) and senior (2008-09) seasons. Lee wrestled at 140 pounds as a junior and 145 pounds as a senior and recorded a 97 match win streak during his final two years of school. As a sophomore 130 pounder, Lee took third at the state tournament. Lee was coached by Mike Prado and won 129 matches by fall. As a senior, Lee recorded a career-best 57 wins. Lee was a four year letterwinner on the Marauder wrestling team.
