Fifteen Tigers Place at Roger Denker Open

Fans can get their first look at the seventh-ranked Tigers as nearly 20 duals will be contested.

2012-13: Cole Baumgartner began his Tigers career by going 20-10 at 141 pounds in five tournaments. He made his Tigers debut by winning four matches en route to a fourth place finish in the UCM Open. His first win of his career was also his fastest fall as he pinned Garrett Matthews in 0:45 for one of his three falls in the tournament. Baumgartner won four of his six matches in the Joe Parisi Open. Cole earned a third place finish at the Kaufman-Brand Open and a fifth place finish in the Roger Denker Open winning four matches in each tournament. Five of Baumgartner's 20 wins came via fall.

High School: Wrestling for Jefferson City High School, Baumgartner posted a pair of runner-up finishes at state over his four year career, finishing second as a sophomore at 103 pounds and second again as a senior at 126 pounds. He won at least 44 matches every year, finishing his career with a record of 182-25. Of those 182 victories, 100 came by fall. His senior year, he helped the Jays to a fourth place team finish at state. Academically, Baumgartner was a two-time Academic All-American and finished second in his graduating class. He earned four letters in wrestling and four letters in soccer and was a two-time All-State soccer athlete.

Personal: Cole was born to Danny and Kim Baumgartneron May 11, 1993 in Jefferson City, Mo. He has an older sibling, Danielle, and a younger sibling, Jayme. Cole intends on majoring in mechnical engineering. He chose the Tigers over Duke University.
