Recent graduate and 157-pound Missouri All-American Michael Chandler begins his first year as the Tiger's assistant strength and conditioning coach.

A four-time NCAA qualifier, Chandler ended his collegiate career on March 21 at the National Tournament, collecting his 100th career victory as well as a fifth place All-American finish. As a senior, the Tiger grappler managed a 32-8 record and became the 16th Missouri wrestler in program history to etch his name in the century club.

A four year starter for the Tigers, Chandler was a two-time team captain and was awarded Missouri's Hap Whitney Coaches Award honor as well as Most Improved Wrestler accolades in 2006.

Chandler earned runner-up honors at the 2008 and 2009 Big 12 Championships and was awarded automatic bids to three of the four NCAA Tournaments in which he competed. A proven threat against conference foes, Chandler notched a 31-15 record against Big 12 wrestlers in four years of work.

The High Ridge, Mo., native graduated from Missouri in the spring of 2009 with a degree in personal finance management services. In his new role with the Tigers, Chandler will help Missouri's wrestlers in the weight room, while also assisting in off-season freestyle training.
