A 2006 graduate of Iowa State University, Shane Bishop was named graduate assistant athletic trainer to the nationally-ranked Missouri wrestling program in the summer of 2006 and promoted to Director of Sports Medicine for the Hearnes Center Facility in 2008. Bishop also serves as the Director of Sports Medicine for TigerStyle Wrestling Camps.
In his five years at Missouri and one year with the Cyclone wrestling squad, Bishop has been a part of a five-year stretch that resulted in 16 All Americans and four National Champions as well as a third place Missouri team finish, the highest in program history, at the 2007 NCAA Championships.
Continuing to serve the Tigers beyond the traditional collegiate season, Bishop provided coverage for the 2008 National Freestyle Championships and 2008 Olympic Trials. Working closely with the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Foundation, Bishop also assisted in two-time National Champion Ben Askren's historic run for Olympic Gold in Beijing, China.
Prior to his work at Missouri, Bishop gained valuable wrestling experience during his time at the USA World Wrestling Trials (2005, 2006) and Iowa State High School Wrestling Championships (2004, 2005, 2006). Bishop has hosted two Big 12 Wrestling Championship Tournaments and has accompanied teams to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Bishop's resume includes time with the Iowa State football team and high school extension program, which includes football, wrestling and track. In addition, Bishop interned with the Indianapolis Colts in 2005, assisted with Missouri's 2007 NCAA Regional baseball tournament and track and field competition as well as assisting with 2006 Regional Special Olympics coverage in Ames, Iowa.
A three-sport athlete in high school, Bishop grew up on his family farm in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Bishop received his bachelor of science in health and human performance/athletic training in May of 2006.
The son of Randy and Christine Bishop, Shane has one sister, Mekenze, and a brother, Kegan.
