2001-02 SEASON: Barker became MU’s first All-American since 1998 by finishing sixth at the NCAA Championships. He compiled a record of 26-7 this season with two of his losses coming to No. 1 ranked Cael Sanderson of Iowa State. Barker was 17-3 in duals and 4-2 in the Big 12 Conference and made his first trip to the National Championships. At the Reno Tournament of Champions, Barker was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler after he claimed the championship in the 197-pound weight class. He won all four matches at Reno by pinning his opponent in the first round of the bouts. All four pins were in less than 1:34. He was selected as the first Big 12 Wrestler of the Week this season on Jan. 7. He won his first 13 matches of the year, nine by pins. Of his 26 victories on the season, 13 were pins, which tied him for the team lead in falls.


2000-01 SEASON: Barker stepped into the starting lineup midway through his freshman year as a heavyweight. He went 15-10 overall and was 8-5 in dual matches. He was a University Freestyle All-American placing fourth and was a runner-up at the Fila Junior World Trials.

HIGH SCHOOL: His long list of accolades at Oakville High School includes two-time state champion, a high school national championship, high school All-American his senior year and a third place finish at junior nationals. He was coached by former Tiger Rocky Streb.

PERSONAL: The son of Annie and Mitchel Barker, Scott is studying psychology. He chose Mizzou over Iowa State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Northern Iowa.
