IRVING, Texas - With four titles in seven races, along with having a school record split time in the 400 medley relay at the Mizzou Invite two weeks ago, Jan Konarzewski was named Big 12 Men's Swimmer of the Week today.

This is the second time this year that a member of the Tiger men's squad was awarded the honor, this on the heels of Greg DeStephen being named the conference's best diver two weeks ago. Konarzewski is also the first swimmer to win the award since Martin Cernansky last year.

Konarzewski won both the 100 and 200 back races, setting a meet record in the 100 back, but his best work came in the relay races, where his blazing split time of 47.91 was nearly two seconds faster than the next competitor in the 400 medley relay, and 22.88 second split in the 200 medley relay aided the team in victory. The teams 3.18.01 in the 400 and 1:30.16 in the 200 were also provisional NCAA qualifying marks.

Konarzewski and the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to the pool Jan. 9 as they host a dual with Missouri S&T at the Mizzou Aquatics Center.
