COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou senior diver David Bonuchi and junior swimmer Sam Tierney earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors for their performance in Mizzou's tri-meet against Kentucky and Southern Illinois last week, the league office announced on Tuesday. Bonuchi was named the SEC Male Diver of the Week, while Tierney earned SEC Male Swimmer of the Week accolades.

The honors mark the third and second, respectively, conference weekly awards of Bonuchi and Tierney's careers. Bonuchi claimed SEC Male Diver of the Week honors on Oct. 23, 2012 and Big 12 Diver of the Week accolades on Dec. 15, 2010. Tierney was named the SEC Male Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 13, 2012.

Columbia, Mo., native Bonuchi swept the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards in a two-day meet with Kentucky and Southern Illinois Oct 24-25. The senior first claimed top honors on the 1-meter with a season high score of 351.25 on Thursday, then won the 3-meter on Friday with 396.80 points, also a season best. Bonuchi remains perfect on the 3-meter so far this season and has won five of six total events in 2013.

Tierney, who hails from Plano, Texas, won three individual events and helped the Tigers win two relays against the Wildcats and Salukis. He took first in the 100 back (49.35), 100 breast (55.89) and 200 breast (2:02.11) and was on Mizzou's winning 200 medley relay (1:31.70) and 400 medley relay (3:18.15) teams. Missouri's time of 3:18.15 in the 400 medley relay was the fastest time in the country last week and ranks sixth nationally. On an individual level, Tierney ranks fourth nationally in the 200 breast (1:58.94) and seventh in the 100 breast (55.13).

The Tigers return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 1 when the squad hosts Texas A&M in a dual meet at 4 p.m. at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
