Tigers In Third Mansfield, Texas--The Missouri men's swimming and diving squad finished night one of the SMU Invite in third place with 342 points, just ahead of host school Southern Methodist, 327. Big 12 opponent Texas leads the four-team meet with 459 points, while Texas A&M stands in second with 380. Day two of the competition held in the Mansfield Natatorium in Mansfield, Texas, is set to begin at 11 a.m. (CT), Saturday morning. Missouri sophomore Jan Konarzewski (Warszawa, Polan) claimed Missouri's sole first place finish of the night, winning the 200-back in 1:47.77. The Tigers were also aided by junior Jordan Hawley's (Plano, Texas) third place finish in the 100-free. Hawley touched just ahead of Aggie swimmer Casey Strange in 46.03. Senior Greg DeStephen (Columbus, Ohio) dove to a third place finish in the 1-meter event. DeStephen scored 322.87 points off his dives. Diving teammate Dante Jones (Columbia, Mo.) was injured during warm-ups and did not compete in the evening competition. "We finished third overall tonight," Head Coach Brian Hoffer said. "We're still a young team and have some stuff to learn. We'll talk about things tonight and go out and do our best again tomorrow." Yaniv Shnaider (Ma'ale Adumim, Israel) swam his way to a forth place finish in the 200-IM finishing in 1:53.23. Shnaider took a first place finish in the 200-IM at the Tigers' last meet, the Show-me Showdown. The relay team of Konarzewski, Hawley, Michael Lopresti and Anders Melin competed together for a fourth place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team finished with a time of 3:23.24.
