The Missouri swimming and diving program has announced the formation of a new booster club and student cheer group that will create new and exciting ways to support Mizzou's nationally-ranked men's and women's swimming and diving squads.
The group, H-ZOU-O, is designed to reach out to anyone that would like to support the swimming and diving team. The main goals of the group are to boost participation of all students, alumni and other fans while also creating an opportunity to financially support the teams.
"It's an exciting time for Mizzou Athletics and our program," Head Coach Brian Hoffer said. "We hope that H-ZOU-O can get people in the stands, further connect our alumni and fans and provide financial support to these hard working student athletes representing Mizzou Swimming and Diving."
When joining, fans are asked to make a donation to the swimming and diving program, which will contribute to the long-lasting success of the sport here at Mizzou. In the future the group will also be hosting socials, meet-and-greets with the swimming and diving squad, and other events exclusive to H-ZOU-O members.
"We're hoping to create traditions that will stick with the cheering section for years to come," said H-ZOU-O President Kelly Goldthorpe. "We hope that with the support and fan base of the student body the Mizzou Swim and Dive teams will stay motivated and continue excelling in their sport."
The season begins this Saturday, October 18, with the Show-Me Showdown. Prior to the meet, H-ZOU-O will be hosting a tailgate for anyone interested in joining the group, which will be held on the top of the Virginia Avenue parking garage. Everyone who attends the meet on behalf of H-ZOU-O will receive a free t-shirt.
