Mizzou Hosts Show-Me Showdown Saturday

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou swimming and diving teams start off their home season on Saturday, Oct. 10, hosting the fifth annual Show-Me Showdown Saturday at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The first session will begin at 11 a.m. while the second session starts at 3 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

The Tigers welcome seven other programs from around the state as a way to start the season and promote College Swimming in Missouri. Joining Mizzou in the meet are Drury University, Lindenwood College, Missouri State University, Missouri S&T, Saint Louis University, Stephens College and Washington University.

"College swimming in this state is amazing," Head Coach Brian Hoffer said. "The Show-Me Showdown is a way to highlight all the great teams in the state and to get some good early season swims in."

"The staff will be looking at our freshman and transfers with great anticipation as they finally get a chance to represent Mizzou," Hoffer added.

Missouri is coming off a second place finish at last weekends SIU Open Water swim in Carbondale, Ill.

Both the Mizzou men's and women's teams have won the Show-Me Showdown title each of the past four years.
