IRVINE, Calif. - Ten current and former members of the Mizzou swimming team competed at the 2013 U.S. Open last week at the Woollett Aquatic Center in Irvine, Calif. Over the course of the five-day meet, the Tigers recorded five top-eight finishes.
Dominique Bouchard (North Bay, Ontario), who concluded her Mizzou career in March, posted two top-four finishes among her four events. Bouchard placed second in the 200 back in a time of 2:10.97 and fourth in the 100 back with a swim of 1:01.09. Both her finals times were faster than her morning preliminary swims. Bouchard also swam the 200 IM (40th) and 100 fly (55th).
Rising junior Mack Darragh (Oakville, Ontario) also recorded a pair of seventh-place finishes at the event. He took seventh in the 200 fly with a 1:59.44 in the finals, then followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the 400 IM after a swim of 4:21.58. Darragh also qualified for the 200 IM `C' final, where he took 20th (2:04.00) and placed 39th in the 200 breast (2:18.87).
Also earning a top-eight finish for the Tigers was rising junior Danielle Barbiea (Springboro, Ohio). She qualified for the championship finals in the 100 fly and swam a 1:00.77 in the finals to take eighth. Barbiea also competed in the 50 free (32nd), 100 back (42nd) and 100 free (43rd).
Igor Kozlovskij (Klaipeda, Lithuania) advanced to the consolation finals in the 100 breast and took 15th in the event with a time of 1:03.59). He narrowly missed qualifying for the `C' final in the 200 breast with a 26-place finish in the event, and also competed in the 100 fly (79th).
Also competing in the event were rising juniors Austin Fish (Bellingham, Wash.), Alex Glogoza (St. Peters, Mo.), Connor Nolan (Southlake, Texas) and Sam Tierney (Plano, Texas) and rising sophomores Daniel Graviss (Houston, Texas) and Lauren Stoeckle (Denver, Colo.).
