Figueroa, Thomas Qualify for Senior Nationals

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Mizzou divers Loren Figueroa and Clark Thomas qualified for the upcoming 2013 USA Diving ATT Senior National Diving Championships with impressive showings at Zone Championships last weekend. The ATT Senior National Championships will run Aug. 13-18 in Iowa City, Iowa.

Houston, Texas, native Figueroa will compete both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at the Championships. The rising redshirt junior won the 1-meter competition at the Zone B Championships in Tallahassee, Fla., after scoring 239.70 points in prelims and 260.25 points in the finals. Her finals session score was the highest among all Zone Championships on the event. Figueroa also placed fifth on the 3-meter with scores of 253.05 (finals) and 230.85 (prelims).

Thomas, a rising sophomore, took fifth on the 1-meter to earn his spot in Iowa City. At the Zone A Championships in Christianburg, Va., the Olathe, Kan., native scored 338.20 points in the finals after a prelims score of 344.90. He also took 13th on the 3-meter with a score of 321.80.

Three other Tigers joined Thomas in Christianburg. Lauren Reedy took 10th on the 3-meter, 11th on the 1-meter and fifth on 3-meter synchro with diving partner Danielle Hulvey. Lauren Callin finished 10th on the platform, 36th on the 1-meter and first on the platform synchro with diving partner Francesca Giganti. Additionally, Michael Barry took 42nd on the 3-meter.
