Mizzou Set for NCAA Zone D Diving Championships

March 10, 2014

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Five divers from Mizzou's men's and women's diving teams will vie for NCAA Championships berths this week at the three-day NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in Minneapolis, Minn. Seven male and nine female divers from the meet will advance to the upcoming Championships.

The field is comprised of divers from 19 different women's programs and 12 different men's schools.

The meet gets underway on Monday with the women's 1-meter at 11 a.m. and men's 3-meter at 5:30 p.m. Following prelims, 18 divers will advance to finals. Scores are carried over from prelims to finals.

Senior David Bonuchi, an eight-time All-American, leads the Tigers at Zones. The Columbia, Mo., native is in search of his fourth consecutive NCAA berth to keep his streak of earning All-America honors on his last eight events at the Championships. At last year's Zones, Bonuchi swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter events at last year's Zone Championships.

Mizzou's other male competitor is sophomore Clark Thomas, who is looking for his second straight NCAA appearance. Thomas qualified for NCAAs last season following a fifth-place finish on the 3-meter at last year's Zones.

On the women's side, two-time All-American Loren Figueroa will try for her third NCAA Championships appearance. She qualified as a freshman in 2011 en route to runner-up honors on the 1-meter at NCAAs. Following a redshirt season, Figueroa returned to the Championships in 2013 and ultimately placed fifth on the 1-meter.

In the midst of a breakout season, sophomore Lauren Reedy enters Zones seeking her first NCAA appearance. Reedy is coming off a second-place finish on the 1-meter at the SEC Championships. She will compete on both springboards for the Tigers.

Junior Lauren Reedy rounds out Mizzou's Zones competitors in search of her first NCAA appearance. She will compete on both the 1-meter and platform at the meet.
