COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Mizzou diving team opens 2014 at the Georgia Diving Invitational, Jan. 3-5, at Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga. The Tigers will go against divers from 13 other schools, including Southeastern Conference foes Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee and host Georgia.

All five of Missouri's divers will compete in the three-day event. Action kicks off on Friday, Jan. 3 with women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter, while the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter will take place on Saturday, Jan. 4.

The top six divers from the springboard prelims will participate in the Bulldog Shootout on Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m. The shootout is a round-by-round, knock-out event. Each diver will do only one dive, and the diver with the lowest score at the end of each round will be eliminated. The elimination process will continue until there are only two divers left with one dive remaining.

Springboard prelims will start at 10 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday, with finals at 5 p.m. CT.

On Sunday, both the men and the women will compete on platform, with the men set to begin at 9 a.m. CT and the women at 1 p.m. CT.

The Tigers have been idle since the USA Diving Winter National Championships in mid-December. At the Championships in Austin, Texas, the Tigers totaled five top-eight finishes.

Sophomore Clark Thomas placed second on the 1-meter with a two-round score of 695.85, while senior David Bonuchi was 7th with 652.60 points. On the women's side, redshirt junior Loren Figueroa placed sixth on the 1-meter with a tally of 520.95.

The women's duo of Figueroa and sophomore Lauren Reedy earned a fourth-place finish on the synchronized 3-meter with a score of 551.40, while Bonuchi and diving partner Connor Kuremsky took eighth on the men's synchronized 3-meter with 737.01 points.
