HOUSTON - The Mizzou men's diving squad wrapped up its second day of action at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on Saturday. Sophomore Greg DeStephen, who earned his second straight bid to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship on Friday, recorded a top-five finish in 3-meter diving.
DeStephen followed up his prelim score of 287.85 with an improved tally of 306.15 points in the final round. The Columbus, Ohio, native's overall score of 594.00 earned him a fifth-place finish.
Freshman Dante Jones finished eighth overall with a score of 536.05, and sophomore Ryan Meeker was right behind in ninth (528.70). Senior David Boyko took the 12th spot (505.55).
The Tiger trio has one more chance to join DeStephen at this month's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash., during Sunday's platform competition, which will crown just one more NCAA qualifier. Action on the tower is scheduled to begin with prelims at 12:30 p.m., and finals to follow shortly after.
