200 Free Relay Finishes Second in Day Two of Big 12's

COLUMBIA, Mo. - After the second night of the 2012 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships at Mizzou Aquatic Center, the Missouri men's swimming and diving team are in third place with 222.50 points.

Mizzou started off the night on a good note as the 200 free relay team of Ramom Melo, Joe Hladik, John Krause and Mark Conroy finished in second with a time of 1:19.62.

Freshman Eegan Groome took fourth in the 500 Free with a time of 4:22.08, while classmate Andrew Phillips claimed eighth place as he swam a 4:29.83. Fellow freshman Connor Nolan also competed in the 500 Free, finishing fourteenth in 4:29.15.

In the 200 IM, Yaniv Shnaider tied for sixth place in a time of 1:47.49, while Igor Kozlovskij finished in eighth place as he swam a 1:47.80. In the same event, Mack Darragh finished thirteenth in 1:51.03, while Jason King came in fourteenth in 1:51.51, followed by Austin Fish in fifteenth in 1:52.19.

Freshman Ramom Melo finished third in the 50 Freestyle in 19.96, meeting the NCAA B-Qualifying standard of 20.29. Tigers swept the eleventh through fourteenth spots with John Krause in eleventh place in 20.70, followed by Sam Tierney I twelfth in 20.90. Senior Adam Abernathy finished thirteenth in 20.96, while Mark Conroy recorded a time of 2098 for fourteenth.

Thursday finals action starts at 6 p.m. at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
